Monitor your electricity usage to reduce your bills

Thursday 2nd July 2009

Over the last few months we have seen an increase in the number of electricity monitoring devices which allow you to see at a glance how much electricity you're using at any point in any day. There's also the ability to compare and contrast your current electricity usage with that of one week ago, one month ago or one year ago which will give you an indication of how much you are spending and what time of the day you reach peak use.

While it is obvious that electricity is one of the main energy sources for any consumer and business in the UK, there are simple ways to reduce your ongoing bills. Using your washing machine more economically, switching off your television at night, switching off your lights when not in use and simple, yet highly effective, procedures can save significant money in the short, medium and longer term. These are not rocket science ideas, these are not difficult ideas, they are just simple yet effective ways to reduce your energy bill and also help the environment.

Understanding when and how you use your electricity is the first step to understanding how you can reduce your energy bills going forward.
