The True Cost Of Climate Change

Saturday 5th July 2008

While we have been subjected to yet more Green propaganda in the UK press over the last few weeks, what is the real cost of going Green? Why are we being primed for a large increase in energy prices when Green is seen as the long term solution?

Over the last few weeks the press has been full of suggestions for ways that we can save energy, more and more government policies and even suggestions that we will need to pay for the Green revolution by higher taxation and energy bills. So what is the real scenario? What can we really expect?

A quick look back over the last 20 years will see that we have been through a number of similar situations before, where Green has been pushed to the forefront, only for relatively little progress to be made. However, even though very little real progress has been made we have been hit with rising fuel taxes, in the name of the Green movement, taxation on air travel, in the name of the environment as well as a ‘bag’ tax on plastic bags used in supermarkets.

The truth is that the Green movement has been used by successive governments to try and squeeze as much extra tax out of the UK public as possible, with very little real progress. Now that there are signs that progress is being made, the massive cost of going Green is becoming all too apparent.
