The creation of a Department of Government to look wholly at Energy use and Climate change in the UK and around the world has set the hearts of many environmental enthusiasts fluttering. Many now believe that finally the UK is waking up to the Green issue, what harm we are doing and how we need to resolve it as soon as possible. But is this really a new move or an old way to get more tax out of us?
While the dust settles on the creation of Ed Miliband’s new empire do not be lulled into a false sense of security and believe it will not cost you. This, according to the government, is a whole new start for the UK’s Green plans and will see major changes over the next few years. However, in reality this is the same government policies wrapped up in different wrapping paper. There will be no surprises and like an old toy it will be tattered and torn when you finally get it out of the box.
To all UK political parties, Green issues equal tax rises to save the world and save the environment. But where do these funds go? What good do they actually do? |
