ID fraud is on the increase
Identification fraud is on the increase across the whole of the UK including the consumer and business arenas. Despite the fact that the government and various regulatory authorities throughout the country have highlighted the problem of ID theft for some time, more and more consumers and more and more businesses seem unwilling to take these warnings on board. There is a feeling that this lack of understanding and respect for the risks associated with ID theft and ID fraud will see more and more people targeted by criminal gangs.
It is well-known that a massive number of smaller companies have at some point in the recent past been targeted as potential ID theft victims. The range of schemes introduced by criminal gangs is enormous and it is difficult to pinpoint the main problems for the future. However, it is becoming more and more vital that companies and consumers do not give away personal details in reply to unsolicited e-mails and telephone calls.
The truth is, if it looks too good to be true or is a system or service that you are not aware of then do not respond, then make the local authorities aware of your concerns. If the worst comes to worst and you are wrong then at least you can transact with the third parties in safety.
