Scottish leaders ignore collapse of Flyglobespan

Despite the fact that Scottish Parliament leader Alex Salmond has been championing all causes Scottish over the last few months, neither Mr Salmond or his political opponents took any time out in yesterday's Parliamentary questions session to discuss the issue of Flyglobespan. This reflects very badly on the Scottish parliament which is to all intents and purposes an arena to discuss all things Scottish.

As we approach the election, the Scottish National Party (SNP) would appear to be growing more and more concerned about a sudden collapse in support both for the party and its independence move. The party has also announced massive public sector spending cuts which will come in over the next few years although again the UK Parliament has been blamed for the issue despite the fact that every public sector department in the UK will feel the pain in the short term.

There is a feeling within the Scottish political arena that the Labour Party may well grab back control of the Scottish parliament in due course after Alex Salmond's honeymoon period ended so dramatically. Despite the fact the economy is struggling and unemployment is rising, millions of pounds are being spent on independence vote which the vast majority of Scotland do not appear to want. Time will tell, but it certainly looks as though the Scottish electorate is abandoning the SNP, at least in the short term.
