Can The UK Economy Ride The Storm?

Friday 6th June 2008

As the news worsens in the property sector, finance costs start to move ahead again and debt levels throughout the UK population are still rising, there are many observers under the impression that the UK economy is in for a rough ride over the next couple of years. When you also take into account the fact the UK government has budget deficit concerns and a fear of growing inflation, is there any good news on the horizon?

At this moment it has to be said that there is little good news or potential turning points on the horizon although historically it can be very difficult to see the potential turning points when the economy is in such a downwards spiral. Moral is low amongst the UK public and many are feeling the pinch on everyday spending, but there is money out there.

These are the moment when long term investors will start to sit up and take notice, like the recent recommendation from a Middle East bank suggesting that the UK property market was starting to look good value. The economy and areas such as the property sector will hit rock bottom at some stage and investors will move in strongly, but that moment seems some way off at the moment.
