Boris Johnson Dismisses His Own Financial Report!

Wednesday 16th July 2008

In a move which only Boris Johnson could carry-put, he has dismissed his own office’s report into the financial management of the Greater London Authority and other peripheral organisations it has influence upon. The move is seen as something of a side step with the report suggesting a radical change in the structure of the London authority and a lessening of the influence afforded to those in the Mayor’s Office, something which would have led to reduced powers and possible job losses.

The report itself was highly critical of former Mayor Ken Livingston who had been dogged by rumours and suspicion during his time in office. The researchers fell short of claiming any breaking of rules or regulations but did suggest that the level of value for money was very low.

Until Ken Livingston took on the role of Mayor of London the office did not receive as much acclaim around the country as it had done in the capital. It seems that under this increased scrutiny a number of discrepancies have materialised and the whole aspect of value for money for the tax payer has been reviewed in great detail. Quite how Boris Johnson will fair after his less than encouraging start in office remains to be seen.
