Will the recession impact upon UK education?

While the ongoing construction of new schools across the UK continues unabated, there is serious concern about both college and university education in the short to medium term. Not only is the government running short of significant funds but many parents, who have historically paid for their children to go on to further education, are now finding the extra funding very difficult to come by. While education is a must for anyone looking for a well-paid job in the future many parents are struggling to make ends meet never mind cover the potential cost of further education.

Despite the Labour government suggesting education, education, education was at the top of their political agenda this would not seem to be the case with regards to student funding across the country. There have been a number of conditions added to student funding requirements of late which have seen many people refused any form of state assistance.

It will be interesting to see how Gordon Brown reacts to the news that many people are now concerned about future education for their children and whether they will be able to assist and effectively "make ends meet" to put the young of the UK through University or College. Slowly but surely we have seen a number of the UK government's "main" policies start to unravel before our very eyes and it does not look good!
