New Year 'ideal time to review credit cards'

Thursday 3rd January 2008

The arrival of the New Year provides consumers with the perfect opportunity to review their finances and find a new credit card deal, it has been claimed.

Sainsbury's Bank has pointed out that this time of year offers consumers the chance to reflect on their financial situation and advises that they can look around to find the credit card deal that will best suit their position.

Donald MacLeod, head of credit cards at Sainsbury's Bank, said: "Look around and see whether there are better deals than what you're currently getting from your provider, and that may well offer you an opportunity to reassess your costs."

For those who have not spent out over the festive period and are now planning to bag some bargains in the January sales, Mr MacLeod pointed out that many cards now have rewards on them.

He concluded: "If you want to take advantage of the January sales then look to getting a card that has a reward to it as well."
