Britons must be more vigilant over preventing credit card fraud, a price comparison site has warned.
The call for consumers to apply greater care in how they use their cards was issued by Moneysupermarket.com in the wake of a study that yielded some worrying results.
Among these was the fact that seven million Britons frequently allow tier cards out of their sight, despite the risk that this leaves them open to card skimming scams.
Meanwhile, ten million increase their chances of fraud by using the same PIN for all their cards.
Responding to the findings, Steve Willey, head of credit cards at moneysupermarket.com, said: "Card cloning and skimming is a multi-billion pound crime yet so many people seem to be blasé about it.
"Meanwhile, using the same PIN for each of your cards is a gamble ten million of us are taking - but I'd strongly recommend having a different PIN for each."
