Look after the pennies and the pounds will look after themselves
There is an old saying from many years ago which is, "look after the pennies and the pounds will look after themselves". While it may seem very simple there really is great substance in this particular saying and the potential to save yourself a significant amount of money in the future.
As a test, why not keep track of every penny which you spend in any one month and then revisit the figures at the end of the period and see where you may have overspent, and spent on items which you did not require. You will be surprised at how much money you can save by one less visit to the shops each day, less time on the telephone or even less time on the Internet for those who have pay-as-you-go packages.
If you do look after your "pennies" these will in due course buildup and could help you to fund activities or new purchases in the future - which are required. If you think this particular exercise is a complete waste of time, just check out your spending and budget for one month and you will be surprised to see where your money goes and how much you spend on a monthly basis.
