Police close down 1200 fake websites

It has been revealed that police have managed to close down more than 1200 websites which were selling "cut-price designer gear" as fraudsters continue their assault on the UK retail market. Even though these particular sites seem to emerge time and time again, against the backdrop of a very difficult economic situation, it appears that more and more UK consumers are looking to bag the bargain of a lifetime.

As a consequence, more and more people have been duped into acquiring either fake designer goods or non-existent goods via these fraudulent websites which can disappear as quickly as they appeared, after taking significant money from consumers. The very fact that the police have made a specific announcement regarding these website closures is a warning to those looking towards his particular field with a suggestion that more money is being poured into the online criminal detection department as the fight against fraud moves online.

While the Internet has brought many benefits to many people around the UK and around the world, it has also opened the door to living rooms and offices around the UK for the many fraudsters, who operate under the radar of the law. In simple terms, if it looks too good to be true then it probably is too good to be true!
