What can you do to reduce your energy bills?
Quite how we have got into this mess with energy bills in the UK is a mystery as first we were told they were following the price of oil but now this does not seem to be the case since the oil price halved. So while the politicians and energy companies try and sort out a face saving deal, what can you do to keep your bills as low as possible?
There are many simple tricks you can use to reduce your electric bills which include knocking off all electronic equipment when not in use. Leaving your TV on standby does not save you any electricity and a mobile phone charge plugged in and switched on but not being used is still costing you money. While we are not suggesting that you would save a fortune with our simple tricks above, it is all money in your pocket at a time when you need it most.
As far as gas heating goes it has been suggested that home owners turn down their thermostat by even just one degree to save some money as you are unlikely to feel the difference. However, especially among the older people of the population, this is not always an option as winter approaches.
