Have you got private health insurance?
As the long term future of the NHS is called into question, more and more people are now looking towards private health insurance for themselves and their families. This is an area of the insurance market which has grown enormously over the last 20 years as waiting lists continue to grow and the so-called "postcode lottery" of health care in the UK continues unabated.
Even though many employers will offer some form of health insurance to employees this may or may not cover the whole family and may in fact need topped up for peace of mind. It is essential in the long-term that all citizens of the UK, where possible, at least consider private health insurance because unfortunately, no matter what the politicians say, the NHS is changing and the budget directed at the national health service is now out of control.
There is no doubt that we will hear differing opinions, differing views and be bombarded with different statistics regarding the NHS but the bottom line is that the system is open to potential fraud with many overseas visitors using the NHS free of charge and then returning back to their homeland. This is a system which was first introduced by the Labour party many years ago and has played a great part in the health of the UK nation. Unfortunately, the NHS as we know it may well be about to change forever.
