Norwich Union has insisted that many people do not realise that there is a wide range of options available to them to help cut their car insurance premiums.
The car insurance company has stated that one of the best ways to cut car insurance costs is to buy online.
Erik Nelsen, a spokesperson for Norwich Union, explained: "There's a whole variety of things you can do to get your motor premiums down. One of the first things is to buy online if you can, most insurers are going to give you at least a ten per cent discount for purchasing your motor insurance online."
He also advised people to put their partner on their car insurance as a named driver, stating: "It sounds counterintuitive but actually in most cases, assuming your partner has a clean drivers licence, you should get a bit of a discount on that."
Norwich Union has recently launched a pay-as-you-drive insurance scheme for motorists who drive around 8,000 miles over the course of a year, an initiative that Mr Nelsen said had been "very popular" with customers looking to cut their car insurance costs.
