Comprehensive travel insurance 'is vital for romantic trips'

Tuesday 12th February 2008

Romantic types planning to whisk their loved one away this Valentine's Day should check their insurance policies to ensure the day is as happy as it should be, one of the UK's largest insurance providers has advised.

According to Defaqto, the need for travel insurance on such a trip is underscored by the fact that "costs of medical treatment overseas can be very variable and loss of baggage could prove very expensive without proper cover".

Thus, in the event of such eventualities, not only would underinsured parties find themselves hit by a severe financial loss, worse yet, their planned perfect romantic break could become a nightmare.

Mike Powell, a general insurance consultant at Defaqto, said: "By taking a few minutes to check your insurance cover, you can cover your losses from unforeseen problems and help ensure that you and your loved one have a Valentine's Day to remember, for all the best reasons."
