Tesco: Save £100 on a joint car insurance policy

Tuesday 26th February 2008

Taking out a joint car insurance policy when you move in with your significant other saves money, Tesco reminded customers today.

A study from the car insurance provider has revealed that around two-thirds of policyholders fail to tell their insurer when they begin cohabiting.

Tesco also revealed that 48 per cent of couples only notify their provider when they come to renew their policies - and 17 per cent never pass on the information.

An estimated £100 of savings can be gained by joint policyholders.

Tesco also announced today that it would be giving a voucher worth £50 and redeemable in its supermarkets and petrol stations to new car insurance customers - in a sign of an increasingly competitive market.

Overall, car insurance premiums in the UK have risen in cost by around five per cent in the past year, a recent study from Sainsbury's has shown.
