The government minister in charge of flood relief has received a progress report on the recovery effort from last summer's extreme weather.
After speaking to the Association of British Insurers (ABI), John Healey said that home insurance firms' efforts were well on track.
Three quarters of those forced into alternative accommodation thanks to flood damage to properties are expected to be back home by Easter.
Mr Healey said: "Since June I have been holding regular meetings with the insurance industry to ensure everything possible is being done.
"The firm view is that the insurance industry has done a good job dealing with thousands of claims and I want to thank everyone involved for their efforts."
Around 180,000 flood-related home insurance complaints have been received by providers since the deluges which hit England in June and July.
Homeowners have already been paid around £1 billion in successful claims.
