Work At Home Population Warned On Insurance

Sunday 18th May 2008

As we prepare for National Working At Home Day, Lloyds TSB Insurance has taken the opportunity to warn the growing band of work at home entrepreneurs that they need to ensure they have the correct insurance in place. It seems that the growth in the use and availability of the internet has induced a massive increase in the numbers who work from home.

Unfortunately, while very often it may only take a small change in your home insurance set-up to ensure that you are covered while working from home, many people are overlooking this situation. For an additional few pounds a week you could cover yourself for accidents in and around the home while in work time, and also potential damage to your equipment or loss of data.

In years gone by the insurance companies tended not to charge extra for those who worked at home, but now that margins are thinner and more and more people are seeking the involvement of the courts rather than sort there arguments face to face, costs have increased dramatically. If you are working from home, for yourself or an employer, it is vital that you ensure the correct cover is in place at all times.
