New drink-drive survey shows greater female responsibility
Women have far more strict views on drinking and driving than do men, according to Diamond. The car insurance provider has released the results of its latest survey, showing that just one in a hundred women would hit the road if they had consumed between three and four units of alcohol - enough to put them over the drink-drive limit.Among men, this figure was one in ten. Moreover, over six in ten males indicated that they would drive after drinking a unit of alcohol - while two-thirds of females said they would never drive after drinking any amount.Under UK law, the drink-drive limit is 80mg of alcohol per 100 millilitres of blood - roughly equivalent to three units.Sian Lewis, managing director of the car insurance firm, commented: "These results show the effects drinking can have on your driving don't seem to have hit home with many men. "The fact that such a large percentage are happy to drive after having a drink is a real worry as any amount of alcohol affects your ability to drive safely."
