It is now the time to look longer term with your investments?
As we touched on in our ISA post early today, the deluge of negative and depressing headlines in the financial press have effectively turned off many people at looking towards the future. However, as we approach the end of UK tax year it is vital, as it is every year, to ensure that your various allowances are taken where appropriate and you still continue to manage your investments for the medium to longer term. Short-term movements in stock prices can and do offer interesting opportunities for the future, which may well need consideration with your financial adviser.
While it would be foolish to guess the short, medium and longer term trend in UK stock market at this moment in time, there is no doubt that in the years to come we will all look back in dismay at the potential investment opportunities we missed. This is only human nature but at this moment in time there would appear very little reason to plough big money into the stock market.
Those who take big risks with big money at this point in time could well see their investment move lower before eventually recovering in the future, so for many investors a drip feed approach may be worth consideration. However, you should contact your professional adviser and discuss your needs and aims for the short, medium and longer term to see if there are any opportunities out there for you.
