Sunday Times Rich list set to be revealed
As we await confirmation of the Sunday Times Rich list it has been confirmed that the richest 1000 people in Britain have seen over £150 billion wiped from their overall wealth. Over the last few days, in the run up to the official release of the Rich list, we have seen a number of details revealed about the significant fall in fortunes of the rich and famous. Many people appear to have entered the list, many appear to have left and others have shown significant movement both up and down.
The £150 billion fall in the cumulative wealth of those on the list is the largest fall in the 21 year history of the infamous list. The number of billionaires has fallen from 75 to 43 this year and the entry figure has fallen from £80 million last year to "just" £55 million this year. The combined wealth of those on the list is £258 billion as oppose to £412 billion last year. It would appear that the economic crisis sweeping the world has resulted in a substantial fall in the wealth of many former billionaires and millionaires.
There also seems to be significant criticism from those on the list about the ongoing change in the UK taxation environment with many now reviewing their living arrangements.
