How often should you speak with your financial adviser?
Financial advice is a very tricky subject and one which many people have differing views on. How often should you speak with your financial adviser? Do you really need a financial adviser? Is it possible to look after your own financial affairs?
The bottom line is that when you have an important investment decision to make you should always take advice from appropriately qualified personnel. If you need pensions advice, speak to a pensions expert, if you need stock market advice, speak to a stockbroker because ultimately markets change as do regulation. You should review your affairs at least once a year to ensure that you are on target for your investment goals and any adjustments can be considered and executed where appropriate.
However, in difficult markets and after potentially groundbreaking budgets it may be beneficial to at least revisit your financial affairs. There may be tax changes which are beneficial or detrimental to your specific situation, there may be investment decisions to be made or there could be other issues to consider. Whether you monitor your investments on a daily basis is purely up to you but you should at least have your finger on the pulse so you know exactly what is going on. Regular reviews are vital!
