Is it time to look at your own small business?

Friday 5th September 2008

In years gone by the number of people looking to start their own small business was just a fraction of the level of interest today. It seems that the internet and other advances in technology have allowed more and more people to work form home, many looking to set up their own businesses, but is this the time to look at working for yourself?

The truth is that with the onset of the internet you are able to market to not just you own national economy but basically any economy around the world. Goods which may be common place in the UK may be collector’s items or very rare in other markets around the world so there may well be significant potential for mark-up. There are however tax, import and export issues to consider to ensure that your business runs within the laws of the UK.

But imagine if you were selling a service or advice which could be passed over the internet or indeed you started a successful affiliate business. There would be no postage, no packing and you could literally leave your site on auto, selling goods 24 hours a day 7 days a week.

Do not believe the hype that all of the good ideas have been taken on the internet, the fact is that the cyber economy is far larger than you could ever imagine and there is always space for a well thought out business.
