Is the return of Peter Mandelson a clever move?
Those who know of Peter Mandelson will be well aware that this is a former MP of the UK who comes with more than enough baggage for one party. He has been caught up in scandals, he has been accused of lying on his mortgage applications and he has been accused of not telling the whole truth to Parliament, but is he worth the risk?
Gordon Brown has taken a very bold step by bringing the 'Prince of Darkness' back into UK politics and while it could be a move which pays of handsomely if he is able to assure businesses in the UK that they have a healthy future, it may not all go to plan. We are already hearing rumours about his past, what he is alleged to have done when serving in the last government and he has been met with a very mixed reaction.
Those who have worked with Peter Mandelson suggest that he will do very well in his Department of Trade position but those who know him better suggest that there may be more skeletons in his closet. Has Gordon Brown done all of his homework on the man who is back for a third time?
