Government Fights Back In Housing War Of Words
As the housing market continues to crumble the government has become embroiled in a war of words with those operating in the property sector. Fighting claims that the decision to announce a possible suspension of stamp duty and then pull away for following through with the move until the autumn has frozen the market, the authorities claim the market has been in free fall for some time.
This is the latest in a number of failed attempts to instil confidence back into the market before the consumer and industry has confidence in the government. All around seems to be in free fall but the government would rather get involved in play ground arguments than do something decisive. So what needs to be done?
The government need to come out and confirm their plans to refloat the housing market, assuming they has some, and put an end to this confusion and uncertainty. If no plans are afoot the market can move on, but if there is something in the wind then hopefully it will see the sector showing signs of recovery. Either way, this uncertainty has caused more damage than the credit crunch ever could and needs to be addressed now!
