Does your bank offer a substandard customer service?
The Which? magazine has today issued a report into the UK banking sector after reviewing the standard of customer service available today. The report alleges that Lloyds bank, Halifax and Bank of Scotland (part of Lloyds bank group) have been lacking in the standard of their customer services in recent times.
While there is no doubt that many customers have complained about the standard of customer service across the UK banking sector, the very fact that Lloyds bank, Halifax and Bank of Scotland have all been highlighted is a concern as they have between them received billions of pounds of taxpayer's money. One of the other banks mentioned with regards to substandard customer services was Northern Rock which has again received massive taxpayer funding in the recent past.
Even though it is disappointing to see some of the largest names in the UK banking sector allegedly offering some of the worst customer services available, it does place pressure on the UK banking sector to make changes. This "name them and shame them" policy appears to be working with the FSA recently confirming that complaints procedures at some of the U.K.'s largest banks have recently been amended after advice from the FSA.
