UK consumers switched off over energy efficient light bulbs
Despite the fact that various regulations have been passed through Parliament regarding energy efficient light bulbs it seems that the vast majority of those available to UK consumers and UK businesses still remain unused. The Energy Saving Trust estimates that of the 224 million energy-saving light bulbs sent out to consumers and businesses over the last two years, a massive 60% remain unused to this day.
As the Green movement in the UK continues to grow in power and influence it is inevitable that at some stage we will see penalties implemented against consumers and businesses who do not "do their share" in saving energy. There is no doubt that even the simple use of energy-efficient light bulbs can and will have a significant impact upon the average UK household energy bill but for some reason, whether it's the fact consumers are being forced down this road, many are unwilling to change their habits of a lifetime.
Other simple energy efficient activities such as cavity wall insulation can also lead to significant reductions in annual energy bills although again many in UK seem unwilling to take this particular baton and run with it themselves. There are, and have been for some time, a number of ways in which to reduce energy bills and hopefully UK consumers and UK businesses will make use of these in the short, medium and longer term.
