OneStop shoppers to receive offers via app

Customers are able to have personalised discount offers sent directly to their smartphone whenever they enter a OneStop store from this week.
These offers are tailored to each individuals preferences based on their internet shopping history. The first promotion is for discounts on the magazines Chat, Pick Me Up, Woman and TV & Satellite Week.
Consumers will need to download the OneStop or Appflare Redeem app to receive the offers, which will be sent via Bluetooth. The discount codes can then be redeemed at the till, or shared with friends via Facebook. Only customers who have chosen to take part will receive the offers, and they can choose to opt out anytime by turning their notifications off.
61% of UK adults now own a smartphone and the market is growing substantially every year, as a result OneStop will be targeting a massive audience with this promotion. Lizzie Reynolds, Head of Marketing at OneStop said: “Our aim is to set the standard in retail convenience, so we are really pleased to be pioneering this new service for our customers. Mobile is an incredibly important channel for our customers and we want to offer them the best shopping experience in both bricks and clicks.”
The promotion is a trail for Appflare, a company that specialises in mobile engagement in store environments, and could result in offers being sent to consumer’s smartphones in cinemas, coffee shops and fast food restaurants. With smartphone apps already being used in House of Fraser, Hawes & Curtis and the Bentalls department store, they are steadily becoming part of the everyday shopping landscape. Owen Geddes, CEO and Founder of Appflare adds: "Beacons enable shoppers to get a far more personalised experience, by receiving relevant offers at the right time and place via their favourite technology - their mobile. In our trials consumers have embraced the option to receive these location based offers, with engagement levels increasing as much as fifteen fold.”
