Cashpoint heaven at Tesco
Visitors to a Tesco branch in Hounslow, Essex were this afternoon treated to a rare bonus when the Tesco cashpoint decided to double up on cash requests while only charging the original cash request. Due to "a rare operational error" the system had apparently malfunctioned and while it was only operational in this form for around 90 minutes a queue very quickly began to grow as word spread.
While it is unknown how much money was paid out by the machine, there were queues 50 deep at one point as family and friends began to ring each other and raced down to the store. The fact that Tesco has since confirmed that it will not be reclaiming cash from customers who received double their original request is further icing on the cake for those who were able to get down there in time. While issues of this type are fairly rare there was a similar occurrence at the Sainsbury's cashpoint in Welshpool, Wales earlier this year.
Even though many people complain about the ever-growing impact which technology has on our everyday lives, perhaps this event at the Tesco's cashpoint is a reward for those customers who have stood by the company during the recession?
