Savers advised to invest despite market concerns
The increasingly unstable financial markets should be used by potential investors to their advantage, a UK investment broker has said.Recent developments on the worldwide markets saw the FTSE 100 fall by 57.5 points to 6,058.7 at the close of trading yesterday, but knowledgeable investors could still find good opportunities to invest, according to Hargreaves Lansdown. The broker advises that equities remain an attractive prospect."We may see volatility this year â€" but we think that investors should use that opportunity to invest in the stock market weakness," said senior analyst at Hargreaves Lansdown Meera Patel."Equity income gives you both and income stream but it also gives you capital growth. If you are a young investor you can have the income but you can have it reinvested. It is all compounded and it goes into capital growth," she added."One characteristic of investment trusts is their ability to build revenue reserves which can mean reduced income volatility, despite the ups and downs of capital performance in any particular year," said Piers Currie, head of investor relations at Aberdeen Asset Managers, speaking last month.
