Praises of energy efficient appliances sung

Not only do energy efficient appliances have a less harmful effect on the environment, they also serve to save cash in the long run, the Energy Saving Trust has highlighted.Head of trade and marketing at the non-profit organisation, Adrian Arnold, has pointed to figures which show that 40 per cent of the UK's carbon emissions come as a result of everyday use such as travel or work.Mr Arnold put forward calculations which estimate that if every household in the UK replaced their old appliances with energy efficient products, enough carbon dioxide per year would be saved to fill over 24 million double-decker buses, saving over £1 billion. He said: "Energy efficient models of most traditional household appliances are now available and using the most energy efficient model in class can make a huge difference. "For example, an energy efficient dishwasher uses around 40 per cent less energy than an old, inefficient model."According to recent media reports, fuel energy bills could see future increases of up to 40 per cent.
