Why should you pay the government to park at work?
Yesterday's article about the impending £250 a year tax on car park spaces at work has hit the headlines across the UK causing massive controversy. Yet again it is the UK motorist that is being hammered by the authorities all in the name of the "environment". But where do all of these taxes actually go?
One of the main issues with the array of environmental and green taxes which have hit the UK is the fact that nobody actually knows where this money is spent. There is no accountability for funds raised in the name of the environment and green issues, which would indicate that maybe not all of the money raised is ring fenced and used to improve the environment. Is it a coincidence that just after the biggest budget deficit in living history and the highest UK national debt in living history that the government is now looking to introduce new taxes?
While more and more people debate the car park space tax the problem is that this is certain to be just the tip of the iceberg with an array of direct and indirect taxes to be introduced over the next few years. The UK consumer, despite funding the banking bailouts, will literally be bled dry over the next decade, no matter which political party is in power.
