George Osborne ready to take tough decisions
Despite the fact that the UK general election has not yet been called the Conservative party is already stating, that if voted in, the party is ready to make tough decisions which may not receive universal approval. While the Labour Party has for some time being trying to cast the Conservative party as the party for reduced investment in public services this has backfired spectacularly!
Recent surveys have shown that the public want a government and a party which is willing and able to tackle the horrendous public sector expenditure in the UK which has blossomed uncontrollably under Gordon Brown. Since his time as Chancellor of the Exchequer he has poured literally hundreds of billions of pounds of taxpayer's money into the public sector monster and now many people believe it is payback time.
Despite a number of highly personal and highly controversial attacks at last week's Labour Party conference, the Conservative party still holds a very substantial lead in the opinion polls. The Conservative party conference will be vital in the run-up to the general election because one wrong foot could well alienate a number of potential floating voters. Many people believe that the next election is the Conservative party's to lose because the current government has lost the trust and faith of the UK public.
