David Cameron announces change in UK green strategy

David Cameron, who many believe will be the next prime minster of the UK, has today outlined a significant change in his Party's green policy which will see more of a carrot approach than a stick approach. There is no doubt that both consumers and businesses in the UK have been hit very hard by opportunistic fines in relation to recycling and many other green issues with concerns that the government is using the "green ticket" purely and simply as a new income stream.

The proposed change by the Conservative party would see those recycling and taking on green strategies, in business and at home, rewarded for their endeavours rather than penalised for not going down this route. There has always been some concern that so-called green taxes have been "lost in the tax system" and never really been used to improve green issues in UK and the environment.

The next few months will see David Cameron highlighting and outlining a number of schemes and strategies for the potential future ruling party of the UK although it is difficult to get these across without seeming to be somewhat overconfident. As much as David Cameron's policies are vital to the future of the Conservative party, there is also a need to keep everything in check and appreciate that by no means is the next general election "in the bag".
