Harriet Harman targets the rich

Even though Gordon Brown is still officially prime minister of the UK and leader of the Labour Party, Harriet Harman is already shuffling her cards as she attempts to become the first woman Labour Prime Minister for many years. In a bid to take Labour back to "old Labour" she has recently made it known that she will, if she is made leader of the party, attack the rich and attempt to put more money back in the pockets of those on low incomes in the UK.

While Harriet Harman is not the only person jockeying for position as leader of the Labour Party in the future, she would appear to be one of the favourites amongst the Labour diehards and a direct contrast to Gordon Brown and his "new Labour" policies. This is a situation which will go on for some time but one which is slowly but surely squeezing Gordon Brown out of his position as Labour leader, ready to shoehorn somebody else in at short notice.

This is unlikely to happen before the election but if Labour does lose the next election we can expect fireworks very quickly. Who would be in Gordon Brown's shoes!
