Gordon Brown hints at further tax cuts
One day we have suggestions of tax cuts, the next day we have a dismissal of claims and then the next day it seems as though tax cuts are back on the agenda. Gordon Brown has this evening suggested that the UK will be "leading the debate" over the best way to stimulate the global economy with the heavy suggestion that tax levels are the preferred instrument to use.
Despite official denials from government there appear to be figures of £15 billion doing the rounds as suggested levels of tax cuts in the next few months. This has opened up a furious debate amongst opposition parties with the Conservatives suggesting that the so-called scorched earth policy of Gordon Brown could seriously backfire. However, as we have covered in one of our earlier posts it seems as though the Tory party also have their own tax reduction plans which are at an advanced stage.
The government has tried interest rates, the bailout and now it seems as though good old-fashioned cash in your pocket is the next method they will use to refloated economy. As the devil is always in the detail we await further news in due course.
