Gordon Brown takes the plaudits at G20
Gordon Brown has announced that G20 leaders have agreed a co-ordinated programme of tax cuts around the world aimed at refloating a number of failing economies. Yet again he has managed to push himself to the head of the International table and take the praise for his involvement in recent rescue plans.
From somebody who was effectively dead and buried just three months ago Gordon Brown has made an amazing recovery from the depths of despair to internationally acclaimed leader. As his recovery phase goes on and on there are even suggestions that the Labour Party could reclaim the top spot in the UK from the Conservatives. This really is something of a miracle when you consider that Gordon Brown was being stabbed in the back week after week after week and his political friends all seemed to fall by the way. Whether you love him or hate him there can be nothing but admiration for the way he has stuck to his task over these last few difficult months.
However, as the UK enters an inevitable recession there will surely be more challenges ahead for the irrepressible Gordon Brown. Life has been tough for the PM but it could get a whole lot tougher over the next few months.

As we covered yesterday, JJB Sports is desperately seeking to raise around £50 million to increase the company's working capital resources. The Council of Mortgage Lenders in the UK (CML) has this evening suggested that while there has been significant interest in UK property, limited access to mortgage finance appears set to cut this improvement short.
