Government aims to tackle benefits problem in the UK

The UK government has today come out with a very strong attack on the benefits culture which has engrossed itself into many areas of the UK. The new back to work programme is to be introduced next year and those who do not seem willing to even consider going back into employment may well have their benefits cut. However, the move has caused a serious split in the Labour Party with many MPs suggesting they are attacking the very people that have supported the party in the past and others applauding the move as a long-term solution to the problem.

There is some concern that the potential switch of hundreds of thousands of people from those claiming benefits to those looking for work will see a serious rise in the unemployment rate although the government is suggesting there are jobs out there. Quite where these jobs are is a mystery to many as the UK is currently going through one of the more serious economic downturns for many years.

Many charitable groups are concerned that the move by the government is both immoral and illegal and will see many genuine benefit claimants pushed into employment positions which do not allow for childcare and their various living costs.
