Barack Obama makes play for more power over US financial system
In a move which is as bold as it is surprising it has been revealed that representatives of the Barak Obama government are looking to introduce "new rules" into the regulatory environment of the US. Treasury Secretary, Timothy Geithner, appears to have recovered from his early mauling by Congress to lead Barack Obama's move to gain more power.
While there is some concern about the pace at which Barack Obama is introducing changes to the US financial system there is also some jealousy on behalf of opposition leaders who had not expected him to "hit the ground running". However, while Barack Obama's standing with the US population is still fairly high there have been signs of concern from various groups of society about the way in which the economy is being handled and the massive amounts of money being invested.
Barack Obama is still very much in his honeymoon period although his attempt to grab power from US financial regulators could backfire unless he is able to pacify those currently holding this vital role in the US financial system. As many people thought, the introduction of Barack Obama has brought new ideas, new thoughts and new actions and while he is benefiting from these in the polls, the US public need to see results in the short term.
