Recession Watch : The US economy

While there is no doubt that the US economy has taken the worldwide economy into a recession and on the verge of a depression, many people believe the US economy will also lead the world out of recession. Prior to the appointment of Barack Obama as President of the United States of America there had been growing pessimism about the future for the US economy and the US as a whole. However, Barak Obama somehow managed to inject significant confidence into the US economy as soon as he took office and in reality he has continued in the same vein since day one.

The US Federal Bank, and Barack Obama himself, have today been very proactive with suggestions that the US economy may be turning round. All eyes are on the property market and the financial markets in the short to medium term as investors and analysts look for significant signs of recovery. Like the UK, the US stock market is a great indicator of the potential for the future and while we have seen no significant upward movements as yet, it would appear that the downside from here on is limited in the event of unforeseen circumstances.
