Is Sir Fred Goodwin plotting a return?

While ex-Royal Bank of Scotland chief executive Sir Fred Goodwin has been banished to France since his pension scandal hit the headlines there is a feeling that he is trying to clear the path for a way back into the UK business arena. While he has been ridiculed and abused across the media because of his pension, a pension which was offered to him by the UK government, he is still well known as one of the most able minded bankers in the UK. So will he make a return in due course?

While there is no doubt that the pension saga has severely impacted upon his previously perfect CV there is renewed speculation that at some stage, whether in the UK or overseas, he will make a return to the big league. The fact that he has taken the rap for the demise of Royal Bank of Scotland, even though there was a board of directors, is just the way it works in UK business where one person takes the glory and the heartache.

Even though it may be some time before Sir Fred Goodwin moves back into the public eye many people believe that the UK banking sector is worse off for his exile.
