Gordon Brown set to speak at United Nations conference

The United Nations conference, which is being held ahead of the G20 summit, has seen a very compelling and passionate speech from president Obama. He, like so many leaders around the world, believes that while there has been significant improvement in the worldwide economy, now is not the time to take the foot off the gas and starve economies of liquidity.

Gordon Brown is set to address the United Nations later tonight in a speech which will echo the thoughts and comments of president Obama, claiming that the worldwide economy still needs the assistance of the "life-support machine". This life-support machine comes in the shape of large-scale funding from governments around the world to try and increase liquidity in their own market places which will ultimately spread to the worldwide economy.

Even though Gordon Brown and the Bank of England have not always seen eye to eye over the last few months, these particular thoughts were echoed by Mervyn King who believes it would be foolish to take liquidity out of the market despite signs of improvement. In essence, while improvements in the worldwide economy have been made there is still some way to go before the patient is ready to leave the hospital.
