Do not forget the threat of swine flu!
While the UK press would appear to have forgotten about the issue of swine flu, after a reduction in new cases in the summer, there are signs that the virus is back again and could cause massive problems over the winter time. Many people forget that traditional influenza is more commonplace in the winter period, something which will be reflected in the ever increasing number of swine flu cases.
While there have been many doomsday scenarios regarding swine flu and its impact on the UK economy, there is no doubt that more and more new cases will impact upon the ability of businesses to function and consumers to move around freely in certain areas. Even though the UK government is currently in receipt of a large number of swine flu vaccinations it would appear they will not be ready until nearer the end of 2009 and it will take several months to vaccinate the whole country.
Even though swine flu may not be getting headlines at the moment there is no doubt it will become more commonplace in the weeks and months ahead and could yet again have an impact upon the UK economy and the "fragile" recovery we are currently experiencing.
