Gordon Brown loses support of the Sun newspaper

In a bitter blow, it has been revealed that the Sun newspaper is ditching the Labour Party ahead of the next general election in favour of the Conservative party. A 12 year association with the Labour Party has ended in acrimony with Gordon Brown dismissing today's news and suggesting that it is UK voters who hold the power not the UK media. However, this was not what Gordon Brown was saying when the newspaper was supporting his bid for the Labour leadership!

It seems that even the most hardened of Labour supporters are becoming disenchanted with the ongoing acrimony and infighting within the party and the failure of many of the government's policies. Only yesterday Gordon Brown rolled out the same old policies such as immigration, child benefit, help for the elderly and other issues which he has had 12 years to consider and ultimately failed. Whether this is Gordon Brown's last Labour Party conference remains to be seen but there is no doubt that his party faces an uphill battle for re-election.

However, there is also no doubt that the next general election will be the dirtiest and most hard fought for many years as Labour and the Conservative party bid for a Commons majority.
