If consumers are struggling who will bail out the UK?
As the UK economy continues to struggle many analysts are now reviewing their figures after a suggestion that UK consumers are not willing to spend their way out of the ongoing troubles. Not only did we see some difficult GDP (Gross Domestic Product) figures this week but we also saw that UK consumers are not flocking to the high street despite massive discounts and promotional offers ahead of the vital festive period. So if UK consumers are struggling, who will bail out the UK economy?
The truth is that the UK government will need to address this issue sooner rather than later and attempt to put more money into the pockets of UK consumers. It may be a case of bumping up UK national debt to do this but ultimately if the wheels of commerce do not start turning very soon we will see companies stagnate, cash flow reduced and ultimately more companies going under.
The UK government is in a very difficult situation, knowing which buttons to press and which to leave alone, as well as the forthcoming general election also looming large. Time is of the essence if the UK economy does not show signs of recovery, but how long can the UK government afford to wait before investing yet more billions of pounds of taxpayer's money?
