Did Gordon Brown's appearance on TV go down well?

Gordon Brown's appearance on the Piers Morgan show yesterday evening certainly cast the "iron Chancellor" in a very different light although his in-depth interview has attracted very different opinions from UK taxpayers, businesses and politicians. One issue which keeps coming to the fore is the fact that Gordon Brown has never mentioned his family in public although last night, under intense scrutiny, he was forced to reveal his inner thoughts regarding tragedies in his life.

However, we did see a very different side to Gordon Brown and he all but admitted that his relationship with Tony Blair was at times strained and indeed they "disagreed". This is the first time he has publicly declared there were problems between the two political heavyweights which can be traced back to the death of former Labour Party leader John Smith and the resulting leadership battle. This is likely to be the first in a number of high-profile interviews across the political spectrum as we approach the next general election and the opinion polls continue to waver.

It will be interesting to see how the polls react to Gordon Brown's appearance and whether in fact he has, as many suspect, improved his standing with the UK public.
