Trade Unions admit Tories are now in the driving seat
News that even the Trade Unions are getting ready for a Tory victory at the next general election has turned the heads of many in the Trade Union movement. It also suggests that the forthcoming Labour Party conference should be a very heated and interesting affair with Gordon Brown set to come under all sorts of pressure. So what next?
The news that the Unions are even considering a Tory victory at the next election is bad news for Gordon Brown and could be bad news for the country over the next couple of years. The Unions and the Tories have never seen eye to eye and while Margaret Thatcher broke them and took away most of their power they have had a surge of late. We are sure to see more and more instances of industrial action which can and do bring the economy to a standstill.
There is even a feeling that it is too late to install a new leader for the party and that Gordon Brown needs to see the job through until the next election. This would then allow the Labour Party to regroup and come back fighting.
