Gordon Browns crusade to save the financial markets
As Gordon Brown urges the rest of the world to follow his lead and pump billions of pounds of tax payer's money into the banking system you could be mistaken for thinking that he has gone from zero to hero in a matter of day, but is this really the case? Are we now suddenly in Gordon's world?
The harsh truth of the matter is that while Gordon Brown has had his best few days for a long time, the rest of the world is just not listening, let alone his EU counterparts. There do not appear to be any plans by any nations around the world to follow the lead of the UK authorities and it literally is every country for itself out there with Germany and Ireland leading the way with a full guarantee of savers deposits.
The PMs big speeches are hitting the front pages in the UK but that is about it and while the love affair between Labour and the nation may be back on, this could all changed when it is confirmed later this year that the UK is officially in recession. Politicians have a habit of enjoying their day in the sun and after so many bleak days can you really blame Gordon Brown?
