Is Europe turning against Gordon Brown
The next few days will see the great European rescue train stop off at the US for talks with high ranking officials in the US Treasury but is Europe starting to turn against Gordon Brown, is he becoming too much of a figurehead for the worldwide rescue?
The last few days have seen the PM have a disagreement with French President Sarkozy and rumours from Brussels that Gordon Brown is taking too much control, that he has lost the plot a little. On that basis news that the PM is set to having his own meeting with US officials prior to the European get together is also set to further infuriate those at the EU.
After a week in which his standing at home has improved markedly it seems that Gordon Brown may soon be bumping back down to planet earth. Rather unfairly it seems as though his EU counterparts have taken on board his ideas for a rescue plan and now seem set to jettison him from the head table.
If this is the case then we could see some major infighting within Europe and a number of old wounds could open up again.
